Note: This event will now take place on Thursday 29th June at 6.30pm owing to technical problems in uploading explanation videos for the line in the advance of the tournament. Tuesday’s 27th June’s tournament will be a standard 5-round rapid – 10 minutes + 3 seconds per move.

The Petroff Defence is one of the most resilient defences in International Chess. Relied on at key moments in their careers by the likes of Karpov, Yuspov and latterly Nepomniatchi, the opening is frequently employed by Super-GMs in touurnament situations where their opponents need to play for a win. The Petroff contains many hidden defensive and counter-attacking resources for black and is an opening that white King’s Pawn players must prepare for if they want to make the most of the first move.

Tournaments are open to students who have enrolled for a Summer Camp or students who have a subscription to the Chess Bud Online Summer Program.
