THE INTERMEDIATE GROUP COURSE RESUMES IN SEPTEMBER 2022

CLASS 1: WEDNESDAY 14th SEPTEMBER 7-8.30PM

Term Dates: 14th /21st / 28th September / 05th /12th / 19th October

When joining mid-term you only pay for remaining classes.

This course is for tournament standard players of any age with a playing strength or online or over-the-board rating from 1000 -1400 Elo.  Any students under-16 who fulfill the rating requirement are welcome to join with parental permission.

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The main focus of the intermediate course this term will be aggressive King’s Pawn openings ( 1.e4 e5 ) involving an early d4 by white and dangerous attacking lines for white against the Open Sicilian.

Lessons include the analysis of student games from over-the-board tournaments or leagues.

During each lesson students will also use the Coaching Portal to take part in practical training exercises playing against Mark or against each-other in which they play out and then analyse middlegames and endgames arising from the opening systems covered in class.  This will help students to develop their ability to choose the right plans in difficult positions and also to fine-tune their winning technique.

The group meets once a week for 90 minutes on WEDNESDAY EVENINGS from 7-8.30pm re-commencing 14th September 2022. The Online class is conducted using Zoom. On enrolling in the course you will be issued with your own personalised login to the Coaching Portal on the Chess Bud website (www.chessbud.ie) This log-in will remain active for as long as you are a Chess Bud student and for a month following the course. Your personalised login will enable you to play friendly games and tournaments with other class members , complete tactical challenges between classes, take part in simultaneous matches against IM Mark Quinn and review course content in your own time through playing through annotated game databases to re-enforce lessons. Students will also be invited to compete in various online  tournaments in the coaching portal throughout the term.
