TUESDAY ONLINE KIDS CLUB FOR EXPERIENCED BEGINNERS (Unrated to 1000 Elo)
Autumn Term Tuesday Evenings (5 – 6 PM) – 10 weeks
Practical play and analysis will be the order of the day on this course. Students will be given thematic puzzles to solve and middlegame challenges to help develop their game. For the duration of the course, students will have access to the Chess Bud Learning Portal (powered by Chesslang) where they will be able to play friendly practice games with other students, take on Mark in class simuls and lots more.

COURSE FEE: 100 Euro
(10 Euro per student per class)
The course is generally suitable for students with an online rating on lichess or chess.com up to to 1000 Elo.
This course requires a minimum of 10 students and a maximum of 20 students. If cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

MORE ABOUT THIS COURSE…
This ten-week course is suitable for primary and secondary school students who are relatively new to the game and who know the basics (i.e. how to move pieces/ castle and when it is checkmate on the board but as yet they do not have any opening repertoire or an opening repertoire that suits their individual playing styles. We will go over the en passant rule on day one, just in case any student is unsure about the final and most difficult rule for a beginner must master. Any student who has never yet played online will accomplish this milestone in class on the first day in a friendly simul against Mark. After class, they can keep playing their new chess friends in the Chess Bud Portal for as long as they want.
The Chess Bud Learning and Playing Portal has all chat disabled and is a safe and secure environment for students of all ages to play games and develop their chess ability. All student accounts are set up with parents emails and all notifications of upcoming tournaments, new uploads of chess content are sent directly to the parent’s email account.
A basic understanding of the fundamentals of the game and some playing experience either at home or in school is all a student will need to be able to enjoy and get the most out of the course.
Kids will get the chance to try out lots of different types of openings in friendly practice matches, in a bid to discover their individual style of play. In class, Mark regularly reviews and analyses games from Chess Bud Tournaments as well as games students send him from over-the-board league, weekend tournaments or national championships.
