This bilingual course is conducted through Irish and English and is suitable for experienced beginners who understand the fundamentals of the game e.g. how the pieces move, castling, en passant as well as basic tactics and mating strategies. To register your son or daughter for this camp simply fill out this form. Places are allotted on a first-come, first served basis. Their place will be secured once the fee payment is made. After-School Kids Chess Club – Experienced Beginners (Online on Zoom/ English & Irish)

Níl le déanamh agat ach grá don fhichille agus grá don Ghaeilge a thabhairt go dtí an rang seo. Is é an cuspóir atá agam don rang seo ná spiorad spraoi agus oscailteacht a chothú i leith fichille agus Gaeilge. Ní cainteoir líofa mé. Ní gá duit a bheith i do chainteoir líofa. All you need to bring to this class is a love for chess and a love for the Irish language. My objective for this class is to foster a spirit of fun and openness towards both chess and Irish. I’m not a fluent speaker. You don’t have to be a fluent speaker. We can explore chess through the Irish language helped by English translation.

This course is reserved for primary and secondary school students who are recent beginners or who have been playing at home or in school without any formal training.

This course is generally suitable for players who are unrated up to an online chess.com or lichess rating of 900 Elo.

This course will help kids to bring their chess up to the next level in a fun after-school club where the brilliance of the ‘Beginners Mind’ is respected and enhanced by an entertaining introduction to essential chess strategies and ideas. There is a maximum of twenty-four students enrolled in any Chess Bud Online Class so as to enable each student to receive feedback and mentoring during the lesson.

Students have access to the Chess Bud Coaching Portal for the duration of the term where they can take part in friendly class tournaments, as well as a weekly Chess Bud Rapid Tournament and other Bonus LIVE events.

This class will run with a minimum of 8 students. If cancelled, students can switch to a different afternoon or a full refund will be issued.
