COURSE DURATION: 6 weeks
COURSE TIMES: 7 – 8.15pm
COURSE DATES: January 14th/ 21st / 28th & February 4th / 11th / 18th 2025
COURSE LEVEL: Adults Aged 16+; 1400 – 2000 ELO
Group analysis, strategic thinking and calculating accurately is the core of this course. Students will be given a set of difficult puzzles and tricky middlegame challenges to mull over in advance of each class. The positions that students will be challenged to solve will come from their own games as well as contemporary and classic master games. The aim of this course is to give students a new set of tools to help:
- Choose the best attacking plan in complex middlegame positions
- Select the best practical defensive set-up when your opponent has the upper-hand.
- Calculate key lines more accurately and deeply.
COURSE FEES: 72 Euros (12 Euro per student per class)
This course will run with a minimum of 6 students. If cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

The group meets once a week for 75 minutes on Tuesday evenings from 7 – 8.15pm The Online class is conducted using Zoom. This course is reserved for adults (16+) and will suit players who have been playing over-the-board tournament chess for some time and have an online or over-the-board rating of 1400 – 2000 Elo.
In class, students will have the opportunity to play out a specific middlegame position each week against each other or in a simul against Mark.
Students will receive a PDF of four positions to analyse in the week running up to the start of the class, so as they can check their own analyses and ideas against those of their classmates, Mark and of course the engines!
