Monday After-School Kids Club – Advanced (1400 – 2000)

Primary & Secondary School Kids; Rated 1400 – 2000 ELO

COURSE FEES:
75 Euros (15 Euro per student per class)
This course will run with a minimum of 6 students.  If cancelled, a full refund will be issued.

COURSE THEME:

Now that the chess leagues are back in full swing and the tournament calendar is jam-packed with weekend events, this course will focus on analysing student games from recent over-the-board events.

So weekly puzzle worksheets and opening systems that are analysed in class will be created from student games.

Students will also have access to four opening studies for the duration of the course covering key King’s Pawn, Queen’s Pawn and other courses so they can work on their repertoire by themselves or use the studies as a training resource when preparing for opponents in over-the-board tournaments.

Course materials include a weekly Puzzle Worksheet, access to four Annotated Games studies on lichess , as well as a weekly class tournament including analysis/ immediate feedback on student games. 

COURSE DETAIL:

Group analysis, strategic thinking and calculating accurately is the core of this course.  Students will be given a set of difficult puzzles and tricky middlegame challenges to mull over in advance of each class.  The positions that students will be challenged to solve will come from their own over-the-board games or opening systems they themselves are playing.

Students can play through the Annotated Games and puzzle solutions in a dedicated Lichess Study until classes resume in January 2027.

MORE INFORMATION ABOUT COURSE
The group meets once a week on Zoom for 90 minutes on Monday afternoons from  5 – 6.30pm  The course is reserved for primary and secondary school kids who  have an online or over-the-board rating of 1400 – 2000 Elo.  The weekly tournament is played on lichess.org so students must have a free lichess account to take part in class tournaments and also to access studies of annotated games.
